This coffee is a new relationship offering that we are happy to begin with our friends at Finca Terrerito in Honduras. This coffee is from 8 family farms in the Lempira Department of Honduras, in a small town named San Sebastián. It is one of the most isolated towns in the region due to thesteep mountains and high altitude. The farms are located between1700-2000MASL, making it some of the highest altitude farms in theentire country. Due to the lack of roads and modern infrastructure for processing, these families transport their coffees via horseback andprocess using traditional methods.
Sometimes, out of chaos, incredible things can happen - this is the casewith Finca Terrerito’s relationship with the 8 families in the town of San Sebastián.
After two hurricanes ripped through the country of Honduras, FincaTerrerito was near the town of San Sebastián handing out donations ofclothing and food as well as lending our equipment to repair damagesleft by the storms and flooding. While there, they were introduced to thisgroup of farmers. After cupping the coffees, Finca Terrerito’s farmdirector Marcial, visited the farms to see their processes andsustainable practices. The 2020/2021 harvest was the first year ofpartnership and the goal at Finca Terrerito is to find a home for thiscoffee and continue working with these amazing families.
For us, this is an incredibly drinkable coffee - rounded with just a pulse of acidity. A wonderful example of what coffee from Honduras has to offer.
We taste: Date, cinnamon apples, milk chocolate, walnut
