Description
Our trip to our partners at El Vergel in Colombia last October was eye-opening. Aside from the experimentations we’ve been able to try in processing with coffees like Marta Rubi Genius or the previously released koji-processed pink bourbon, we also have experimentation in all sorts of varieties grown on the farm and farms of their neighbors.
We don’t have a lot of information about this coffee and its producer, Daniel Hernandez. It is our hope when you, and others, taste just how incredible it is, all that will change.
Daniel is a young coffee farmer, who by third generation heritage has grown up surrounded by coffee and worked on his specialty coffee production. One of Daniel's biggest dreams is to be recognized for his high quality coffee and to be able to own a sustainable farm with minimal environmental impact.
Caturra chiroso is said to be an mutated variety that took hold in the climate provided in Antioquia, Colombia, first making waves on the scene with its appearance in the Cup of Excellence in 2014.
While still a washed process coffee, this coffee goes through an extended fermentation in the mucilage. The result is an incredibly dynamic cup that we hope you thoroughly enjoy.
We taste: Apricot, pineapple, limoncello, earl grey, black cherry
Single-Origin Details:
- Producer: Daniel Hernandez
- Region: Antioquia, Colombia
- Process: Washed
- Variety: Caturra Chiroso
- Elevation: 1,830 MASL
