Description

Several years ago we began a new relationship with our friends at Finca Terrerito in Honduras with their neighboring farm San Sebastian. For the second year in a row we are excited to also bring in coffees from Finca Terrerito’s sister farm, Finca La Unica. For all the lots we’ve been purchasing from these farms, it has been incredible to see how they change year over year. In our humble opinion, this has been the best year yet.

Located at 1400 meters above sea level under the watchful eye of Mount Tenan, the fifty-acre farm is home to rare micro-lots. Formerly a cattle farm, Finca La Unica was purchased in 2016 by Leticia, a 5th generation coffee farmer, Leticia is proud to be an example for women by owning her own land and taking ownership of a role typically reserved for men in Honduras. Changes to infrastructure include the addition of sleeping quarters for 50 coffee pickers, bathrooms, and kitchens with clean water.

Visit La Unica and you'll find hidden gems throughout our gorgeous rows of coffee trees, whether it be stunning views, cacao trees, lemons the size of your head, or wild berries.

This is not only a beautiful honey processed coffee, but a great example of coffee from Honduras. Last year it had a subtle tropical note that we have seen fade away this year in favor of deeper dried fruits and fruit punch like sweetness.

We taste: Fig Newton, caramel, fruit punch, creamy

Single-Origin Details:
  • Farm/Producer: Leticia Lopez Hutchins

  • Region: Cartagua, Copan

  • Process: Honey

  • Variety: Parainema

  • Elevation: 1,400 MASL

  • Harvest: 2022/2023
