Description

Two years ago we began a new relationship with our friends at Finca Terrerito in Honduras. Staff and guests alike have grown to love the release of this particular offering from San Sebastian, as well as the La Unica lots we started bringing in last year. We are excited to say that this year, every coffee is even better than the years before.

This coffee is from 8 family farms in the Lempira Department of Honduras, in a small town named San Sebastian. It is one of the most isolated towns in the region due to the steep mountains and high altitude. The farms are located between 1700-2000MASL, making it some of the highest altitude farms in the entire country. Due to the lack of roads and modern infrastructure for processing, these families transport their coffees via horseback and process using traditional methods.

Sometimes, out of chaos, incredible things can happen - this is the case with Finca Terrerito’s relationship with the 8 families in the town of San Sebastian.

After two hurricanes ripped through the country of Honduras, Finca Terrerito was near the town of San Sebastian handing out donations of clothing and food as well as lending our equipment to repair damages left by the storms and flooding. While there, they were introduced to this group of farmers. After cupping the coffees, Finca Terrerito’s farm director Marcial, visited the farms to see their processes and sustainable practices. The 2020/2021 harvest was the first year of partnership and the goal at Finca Terrerito is to find a home for this coffee and continue working with these amazing families.

For us, this is an incredibly drinkable coffee - rounded with just a pulse of acidity. A wonderful example of what coffee from Honduras has to offer.

We taste: Date, cinnamon apples, cherry, toffee

Single-Origin Details:

  • Farm/Producer: 8 Family Farms
  • Region: San Sebastian, Lempira
  • Process: Washed
  • Variety: Lempira, Pacas, Catuai
  • Elevation: 1,700-2,000 MASL
  • Harvest: 2022/2023
