I had visited the quills coffee shop here in Knoxville Tennessee across from restaurant called the Disco chicken. I had looked at the different types of coffee by quills and saw the night owl bag and read the flavor notes. has somebody who enjoys pipe smoking cigars and other artisan flavors need intrigued me to try a cup. I was asked if I wanted drip pour over a French press. as I know French press provides the depth and flavor I chose the French press was the best decision I have made. after that cup of night owl coffee I have since purchased a 2 lb bag and if considered purchasing a 5 lb bag I've been on the hunt for a good dark roast Vienna coffee house is dark horse is a pretty good contender but it's still too acidic compared to this. I would highly recommend this.

The dark chocolate tones with that subtle finish of tobacco at the very end makes me want to open a bottle of scotch at 7am. One of the best dark roasts I’ve had, a pleasant and bold jump start in the morning….

This coffee took me back to visiting the Bourbon Trail and starting the morning at Quills. I highly recommend these coffee beans to kick off any day.

I’ve tried my fair share of dark roasts around the city, but none of them hit the spot. Until I tasted this gem. Rich flavor and smoky after tones: exactly what I’ve been looking for for years. This is my new go-to and favorite coffee. Packs the punch I need in the morning!

Quills does it again! As a Dark Roast lover, I was thrilled when the barista at my local Quills brought this new offering to my attention. Certainly not all Dark Roasts are created equal, and this one is top notch. It has the expected qualities of this roast level while maintaining some of the intricacies and delicate nuances many dark roasts miss!

This is probably the best coffee I've ever had. It is very dark, but if you like a dark roast it is delicious. I make it as an iced pour-over and it doesn't need the small splash of milk that most of my other coffees do. I have also bought beans for others

I thought it was okay. Too “dark” for me compared to my favorite Central American varieties.
