Description
At Quills we don't believe Quality For All excludes those looking for a decaffeinated option. We've worked with our partners to find not just a great house decaf, but to have a rotating selection of additional decaf options that really showcase the innovation and excitement in specialty coffee, even if that means it kicks the caffeine.
El Vergel estate made the decision to produce a very high-quality decaffeinated coffee, after seeing many coffees that are used in Colombia to produce decaf are of a lower quality. This decaf offering begins with quality coffee production first from their farm El Vergel - which then allows them to create a decaffeinated product that, despite the process, does not lose its sweetness in the cup. Our standard washed Condor Decaf in the cafes is already a delicious offering, but the team at El Vergel take that coffee one step forward with this natural processed offering.
Their meticulous process begins with special fermentations to extract unique fruity flavors. The caffeine extraction involves circular containers filled with a magical blend of water and ethyl acetate, lowering caffeine levels to a precise 0.1%. The outcome is a smooth, flavorful, and highly enjoyable coffee, resembling a symphony in your cup.
Farm: El Vergel
Region: Tolima, Colombia
Process: Natural Anaerobic EA Sugarcane
Varieties: Red & Yellow Caturra
Elevation: 1450 MASL
